HOWICK LIBARY & COMMUNITY CENTRE
This new Manukau City Council project provides both a Public Library and a Community Centre for the Howick district. As a requirement of the brief, the building has been designed to compliment the fabric of existing buildings in the Howick area. Rather than mimic the historic nature of many of those buildings, the new building reuses the forms and materials of the colonial era, but in a contemporary design.

The two main functions within the complex are expressed as two different forms in the building linked by the service areas. The Library is contained within a rectangular plan and gable form, whereas the Community Centre contains a large circular Multi-Purpose space with a conical roof.

Construction Cost: $2.19m
